I know it has been a while since I have posted and I have several things to catch you up on. But first I just want to tell you about this past weekend …
This past weekend a lot of exciting things happened at the CDP Mid Winter CDI Dressage show at the LA Equestrian Center. We arrived at the show on Thursday and that evening Tom Meyers of TSM Equine Therapies worked on Tigger with a cold laser. On Friday Tigger was much less stubborn and less resistant than normal and we scored a 69.412% at First Level Test 3 and won our class. I think that the cold laser really helped him feel better.
Tigger was lethargic for our ride on Saturday and it was probably our least best ride of the weekend with a score of 68.382%. I feel like my riding was good but Tigger definitely did not give me his best effort. I think that he wastes a lot of his energy at shows pacing and whinnying in his stall. However that was all forgotten when I exited the arena, where to my surprise, the legendary Robert Dover had been watching my ride. Mr. Dover complemented me on my riding and said that I was a great rider and one the most accurate riders he had seen the entire show. Wow, that was one amazing moment that I will never forget!
On Sunday I rode in the National Dressage Pony Cup class and won first place with our best score of the weekend, a 70.735% even though Tigger spooked during our test. The National Dressage Pony Cup class that I won was for Training – Second level test of choice, and I rode First-3. Coincidentally the higher level Pony Cup class was also won by a JR/YR on another Haflinger! So basically Haflingers rule!
At the end of the show, Tigger and his friends were tired and ready to go home. I am pretty sure that my score on Sunday will also earn me the JR/YR Champion High Point award for this show as well as the High Point Pony award.
Lastly, both Friday and Saturday mornings I got to watch a little of the live streaming of the CDI portion of the show from the comfort of my bed. The commentary that was provided by Axel Steiner, who I got to clinic with back in December (one of the things that I have not blogged about yet), was so helpful and informative and I really learned a lot watching and listening to his commentary. I wasn’t able to watch the whole day since we had to get out to the show grounds each morning, but I do plan to watch all of the parts that I missed on the recordings. If you missed it you can watch it here: http://www.californiadreamingproductions.com/live-stream-test/ I really recommend it.
So there you have it, it was a pretty amazing show for #TeamTigger! I am so thankful to have parents and even grandparents who help support me in my passion. I am also very lucky to have a great trainer who has taught me to ride so well, and of course we are all thankful for Tigger, the best pony ever!
